We respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. This Privacy Policy applies to the App and any related websites or services that link to it.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that helps us provide, secure, and improve the App. The categories below reflect our current data model.
A. User Account Information
Email address – used for account creation, authentication, and essential communications.
Account creation & last login timestamps – used for account management, security, and abuse prevention.
B. Device Information (for support & diagnostics)
Platform (iOS/Android), device model/brand, operating system/version, App version/build number – used for compatibility, debugging, performance monitoring, and support.
Push notification token (e.g., APNs/FCM) – used to deliver push notifications; you can disable notifications in your device settings.
Crash/diagnostic data (e.g., crash reports, performance metrics) – used to find and fix bugs and improve stability.
C. User-Generated Content
Photos and videos you upload (which may include EXIF/location metadata if present).
Comments and captions attached to timeline events.
Feedback messages (bug reports, feature requests, general feedback).
Content visibility. Depending on your settings and the feature, content you post (including captions and comments) may be visible to other users. Don’t upload content you don’t want to be viewable by others.
D. Location Data
GPS coordinates extracted from photo/video metadata if available and you choose to include them.
Location metadata attached by you to posts or events if available and you choose to include it.
Location metadata in media: Location may be embedded in your media files. We only retain or display location information if you choose to include it. You can opt out during upload.
E. Usage Data (App Interactions)
Feature usage and event logs (e.g., which features are used and when).
Timeline interactions (e.g., views, opens).
Pins (items you bookmark for quick access).
Likes (hearts) on content.
Cookies, local storage, and SDKs (website only). Our sites may use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, and measure the site. We don’t use third-party cookies for cross-app or interest-based ad personalization.
Log information (including IP address, timestamps, and event IDs) – collected automatically for security, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and troubleshooting.
We do not collect financial information or government IDs through the App.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Provide and maintain the App – account creation, login, core features, media hosting, timelines, pins, and likes.
Support & troubleshooting – diagnose issues, respond to feedback, and resolve bugs (device/App/OS info helps here).
Security & abuse prevention – detect fraud, spam, or misuse; protect accounts and our services.
Product improvement & analytics – understand what works, fix what doesn’t, and guide future development.
Compliance – meet legal, regulatory, and safety obligations.
Legal bases for users in the EEA/UK:
Contract (to provide the App you requested).
Legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement) balanced against your privacy.
Consent (e.g., optional location data embedded in media).
Legal obligation (when we must comply with law).
3. Advertising (Contextual Only)
We may display ads to help support the App. These ads are contextual or non-personalized, meaning they are based on the content you view or your general location (e.g., city/region inferred from IP), not on your activity across other companies’ apps or websites. We do not use cross-app tracking and we do not request platform permissions (such as iOS App Tracking Transparency) for ad personalization.
If we use an ad partner (e.g., Google AdMob/Ad Manager), they may process limited information needed to deliver and measure ads (such as app identifier, approximate location, device and network data, and performance metrics). We require partners to use this information only to provide ad services to us and not for their own independent profiling across apps.
We configure our ad partner for non-personalized (contextual) ads and do not request iOS App Tracking Transparency permission. We do not send precise GPS in ad requests and do not use cross-app identifiers (IDFA/AAID) for ad personalization.
4. How We Share Information
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only as needed:
Service providers / processors that help us run the App (e.g., cloud hosting, databases, content delivery, analytics, error reporting, customer support). Examples may include cloud platforms or mobile analytics SDKs. These providers are bound by contract to use data only on our instructions.
Legal & safety – if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, the public, or us.
Business transfers – if we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer as part of the transaction (you’ll be notified where legally required).
Ad delivery & measurement (contextual only) – If we show ads, we may allow our advertising partners to receive limited information needed to serve and measure contextual (non-personalized) ads in the App (for example, basic device information, approximate location derived from IP, app bundle ID, and the page/screen/content you’re viewing).
We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (as defined by the CPRA). We also do not use cross-app tracking identifiers (such as IDFA/AAID) for ad personalization.
We configure ad partners to deliver contextual or non-personalized ads only. You will still see ads, but they won’t be tailored using your activity across other companies’ apps or websites.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that ever changes, we will update this Policy and provide any required notices or opt-out mechanisms before such changes take effect.
5. Your Choices & Controls
Location metadata: When uploading media, you can choose not to include location information.
Ad preferences (non-personalized by default): We serve only contextual or non-personalized ads and do not use cross-app tracking. If your device provides a setting to Limit Ad Tracking or Opt out of Ads Personalization, we honor it.
Location in ads: If you choose not to include location with your content and you disable device/location services for the App, we will not use precise location for ads. (Ads may still use approximate location inferred from IP, which you can’t disable from within the App.)
Access, correction, deletion: You can request access to or deletion of your personal data, or correct inaccuracies, by using in-app settings (if available) or contacting us via our form: https://dispatchrewind.com/contact.
Email communications: We send only essential account emails (e.g., sign-in, security, legal notices).
Do Not Track: We don’t respond to DNT signals due to industry inconsistency, but you have the controls described here.
Push notifications: You can turn notifications on/off in your device settings; doing so will prevent us from using your device’s push token.
Appeal a decision (where applicable): If we deny a privacy request, you may appeal by replying to our response or via the contact form. We’ll review and respond within 45 days.
Authorized agents (CA): California residents may use an authorized agent to submit a request. We may require proof of authorization and identity verification.
Non-discrimination: We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
6. Data Retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law.
Account info (email, timestamps): kept while your account is active; deleted or anonymized after account deletion, subject to backup cycles.
User-generated content: kept until you request that we delete it by contacting us via our form: https://dispatchrewind.com/contact.
Support/feedback messages: typically retained for 24 or more months for trend analysis and follow-up.
Usage logs/analytics: typically retained for 24 or more months, then aggregated or deleted.
Backups: persist for a limited period (e.g., 30–90 days) before they expire on a rolling basis.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
We do not knowingly allow interest-based advertising to minors. If we learn that a user under the applicable age has been served personalized ads or that we’ve collected personal information without proper consent, we will promptly disable such delivery and delete the information as required by law.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices). No system is perfectly secure; you can help by using a strong, unique password and keeping your account credentials safe.
9. International Transfers
If you access the App from outside the country where our systems or providers are located, your data may be processed in those locations. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
10. Third-Party Links & Integrations
The App may link to third-party content or allow you to interact with third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Please review those policies before sharing information with them.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
Access your personal information;
Correct inaccurate data;
Delete your data;
Port your data;
Object to or limit certain processing;
Withdraw consent (for consent-based processing, like optional location metadata).
To exercise these rights, use in-app controls (if available) or contact us via: [contact link]. We may verify your identity before responding. You can also appoint an authorized agent where allowed by law.
Residents of certain U.S. states (e.g., CA/CO/CT/VA/UT) have additional rights under state law. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
12. Data Deletion & Account Closure
You may request account deletion at any time using in-app controls (if available) or by contacting us. Deleting an account typically removes your personal data and content from our active systems, subject to limited retention (e.g., legal obligations, dispute resolution, backup integrity).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll post the updated version and revise the Effective Date above. If changes materially affect your rights or how we use your data, we’ll provide additional notice (e.g., in-app message or email).
